Hiring: Sunday School Coordinator

We’re Hiring!

Sunday School Coordinator

Inspiring Young Hearts. Nurturing Open Minds.

Position Type: Paid Part-Time (6 hours/week)

Do you have a passion for nurturing faith in young people through creativity, inclusion, and love?
Are you energized by building community, embracing diversity, and helping kids explore BIG questions about God, justice, and life? Northwest is a vibrant, affirming, and progressive congregation seeking a Sunday School Coordinator who can bring heart, imagination, and leadership to our children & youth ministry.

Who We Are:

  • We’re a welcoming and affirming congregation within the United Church of Canada, rooted in Progressive
    Christianity.
  • We follow Jesus’ teachings through a lens of justice, compassion, curiosity, and inclusion.
  • We believe church should be a safe place for questions, wonder, and growing faith—especially for children & youth.
  • Our Sunday School is a space where kids can be themselves, and spiritual exploration is encouraged—not
    prescribed.

Your Role:

  • Plan and lead engaging, age-appropriate Sunday morning programming for children & youth (approx. JK to Gr12)
  • Coordinate volunteers and build a small team of leaders to support weekly programming
  • Select or create progressive, inclusive curriculum that reflects our values (we’re open to new ideas!)
  • Foster a safe, welcoming space where all children & youth feel seen, loved, and valued
  • Work closely with the Minister, Christian Education Committee and leadership to shape a children & youth ministry that reflects our community
  • Support special events like Advent/Christmas, Easter, and intergenerational services

What We’re Looking For:

  • A love for working with children & youth and nurturing their spiritual growth
  • An understanding of or openness to Progressive Christianity and inclusive theology
  • Creative energy and excellent communication skills (Musical or drama experience would be a great asset!)
  • Experience with children & youth programming, education, or ministry (volunteer or professional)
  • Ability to organize and inspire volunteers
  • Vulnerable Sector Check (or willingness to obtain)

Why This Role Matters:

You’re not just running a program—you’re shaping the next generation of compassionate thinkers, seekers, and
justice-makers. In a world that’s hungry for kindness, wisdom, and connection, our children & youth ministry matters
more than ever.
