Music Ministry at NWBUC I am so excited to be part of such an enthusiastic, positive and music-loving congregation. Having been Music Director at NWBUC since 1994, I have seen many changes over the years as we have strived to grow within and connect to the community in which we live. I came to this position with a background in both conservatory and contemporary music, music education and work as a classroom teacher, as well as having grown up in the United Church. Growing a church music programme seemed both daunting and exhilarating, all at the same time. Thanks to the value Northwest places on music as an integral part of our worship experience, as well as the dedication, talent and enthusiasm of our wonderful congregation, our programme has indeed grown. We have blossomed from one choir of three members, to three choirs with many members! Our adult choir meets every Thursday night from 7:30 - 9:00 with our youth ensemble (aka Unity) and children's choir (The Northern Lights) practising after church on alternate Sundays. We hold Coffee Houses throughout the year and encourage the community to attend and share their talents. |
Spring Melodies Our annual Spring Melodies variety show has become a community favourite and is looked forward to with great anticipation every year. Special musical guests are welcomed regularly to enhance both our worship services and special events. A mix of contemporary and traditional, upbeat and contemplative, the music at Northwest will move you, invigorate you, inspire you. There's a place for you here--come and check it out! |
