Sharon Foulkes

Sharon comes to Northwest with a background in sports and recreation. She has lived in Barrie almost her entire life and loves it. During her youth she attended Maple Grove P.S. and then went on to Barrie North and then graduated from Eastview S.S. She has earned her diploma in Outdoor Recreation from Seneca College and later earned a post graduated diploma in Communicative Disorders Assistant from Georgian College. She has an extensive background in recreation the Simcoe County area. She started working at Hardwood Hills in 1996 as a cross country ski and mountain bike instructor and soon after as Program Director and continues today working on and off at the facility in various capacities. In addition to Northwest, she works for MultiSport Canada Event Management where she is a part of a team that produces sport endurance events all over Ontario. Sharon was fortunate to be a part of the Pan Am Games in 2015 at Hardwood Ski and Bike. Sharon’s passion is the outdoors. You can find her most days somewhere in the forest skiing, hiking, snowshoeing, running or riding her mountain bike. A few notable highlights are taking part in a 16 days backpacking adventure through the Adirondacks mountain range, backing packing in the White Mountains, Kootenay National Park, Pukaskwa National Park and all over Ontario as well as sea kayaking in the Bay of Fundy. Sharon’s best accomplishments are her two boys. They bring joy and purpose to her life. This past summer she had the opportunity to fulfill one of her dreams which was to climb a mountain with her children. It was one of the best experiences of her life. Some of her favourite things are sports, Indian food, coffee, craft beer, chips and Disney World. New this year Sharon and her oldest son are learning to Olympic Weightlift and doing CrossFit. If you don’t find Sharon on a hike in the forest you’ll find her at the Magic Kingdom or at the “box” (aka the gym).
